ACLU of NC joins the Alliance

October 15, 2023 by Audrey Muck Leave a Comment

The ERA-NC Alliance is pleased to announce our latest lead organization partner, the ACLU of North Carolina!

Chantal Stevens, Executive Director of the ACLU of North CarolinaExecutive Director, Chantal Stevens, writes, “The ACLU of North Carolina is committed to equal rights for all, regardless of race, color, creed, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, disability, ancestry, or national origin. Joining with the Equal Rights Amendment NC Alliance is another way to affirm our commitment to advocating for gender equality and social justice. The Equal Rights Amendment aligns with our core value of ending gender-based discrimination and would constitute a critical step in creating a more just and more inclusive society. Together with new partners, we are excited to collaborate on knowledge sharing and building people power to shift existing cultural norms, combat gender inequality, and in defense of constitutional rights for all.”

“The ACLU of North Carolina and the ERA-NC Alliance are a natural fit,” said Teri Walley, co-president of the Alliance. “Both of our organizations are dedicated to full legal equality regardless of sex, as stated in the 28th amendment of the U.S. Constitution. We are also dedicated to pursuing full equality under our North Carolina constitution for everyone regardless of sex, race, age, disability, gender identity or national origin. We welcome the ACLU of North Carolina as a lead organization of the Alliance and look forward to a strong, fruitful partnership in the years ahead.”
