What a tremendous ERA-NC Alliance 2018 kick-off event we had on January 25. Over 70 participants learned more about the #MeToo movement and its connection to our efforts to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) in North Carolina by 2019. Thank you all for being a part of our big night at the Grail Moviehouse!
A reminder that our next gathering is scheduled for Thursday, March 29, at 6:30pm at the YWCA of Asheville (185 S. French Broad Ave., 28801). More details will be sent to you via email and/ or Facebook as the date approaches.
Important immediate focus:
1. Read up on the latest ERA news.
ERA-NC Alliance (organizations and individuals in NC who support ERA ratification):
Equal Means Equal (with a great “Select Your State” option, for NC updates and contacts):
National ERA site with info about the history of ERA:
Ratify ERA-NC (lead organization with ERA-NC Alliance):
2. Contact your NC state representatives and senators to request that they co-sponsor the ERA. Find your reps at https://ncleg.net.
3. Talk to five friends, especially those who live in rural counties, about the ERA. Polls reveal that 94% of Americans, regardless of sex, favor equal rights under the law for all. Unfortunately, many of our neighbors do not know about localized efforts to support ratification in NC.
Thank you again for your commitment to equality. Please contact us with questions and ideas. We hope to see you on March 29!
